Childhood Obesity Prevention

To help preschoolers eat healthy, it is important to give them a large variety of food choices. At this age, the amount of any particular food they eat is much less important than having a well rounded diet. There was a time when families are living from agriculture. Everyone, including children, worked hard to survive.

One of the saddest epidemics we face as a nation, and even beyond, is the amount of kids dealing with childhood obesity. Gastric Bypass commonly known as stomach stapling is becoming a common practice by parents and doctors to curb the increasing rise in childhood obesity.

Childhood obesity is a horrible reality in America. The more I think about it the more angry I get. I am constantly hearing that people are wanting to sue the “Fast Food Chains ” or talking about all the fat in the foods at these places however Hello! Aren’t they the ones that take them there?

Children and teens, who are overweight or obese, as a general rule, don’t tend to reverse that trend as they age.  In fact, chances are pretty good that they’ll end up developing high cholesterol,Childhood obesity is on the rise.

Today it is estimated that one in three children ages 2-19 is either severely overweight or obese.

If your child, son or daughter, is overweight or obese they are not alone. Today millions of our youth are grossly overweight. Whole foods are more than the sum of their individual parts. The combination of different chemicals, nutrients and fibers all provide greater benefit than if each were taken separately.

A recent Act passed by the Senate of our country with only 30 seconds of floor time will impact the diet of every school age child in this country. I for one cannot eat a meal without a salad first. I’m a firm believer that this is what maintains my overweight sibling’s cholesterol and sugar levels in top condition.

Reports continue to show that American children are continuing to be obese. What is more alarming is what this extra weight is really doing to our children’s bodies. One important piece to childhood obesity prevention is not using food as a reward. This can be harder than it sounds. When you take everyone in the family out for dinner as a treat,

Sadly, in our world, not just in America as you may have been told, we have a serious problem that must be addressed. Research from the Department of Health showed that one in three 10 year olds are obese and a quarter of five years olds are overweight.

Obesity And Muscle Training

Modern way of living, such as endless and hectic desk jobs, work schedules, computer games, television, and eating while watching television, are what cause obesity. This is coupled with people skip timely breakfast to reach office on time, and skip timely lunch, snacks or dinner to complete work as early as possible or to meet deadlines. They snack instead on junk food and when they return home late in the night they stuff their stomach with all the items available in the kitchen or from eateries on the way back home. You might want to pack some whole fruits, uncut salad vegetables, dry fruits and nuts to office to eat every two hours and supply yourself with your required dose of anti-oxidants and rich nutrients, and cut off all junk food instead.

Thus the stomach gets nothing when it is most active, in the beginning of the day, and gets loaded when it is time for the stomach to rest, which is on late nights.

Again as soon as you wake up early morning, you consume tea or coffee, which does nothing to stimulate bowel movement, the bowel continues to stay inactive and we feel constipation. This is horrible for the body, when compared to the regular 1 pound of stool we would have passed, had we woken up to directly eat a whole fruit, within 5 minutes of rising up, thereby stimulating bowel movement and emptying of bowels.

The calculation of BMI, utilizes, both a person’s height as well as weight as input parameters. BMI can be calculated both for men as well as for women. BMI may not exactly give you the value or amount or quantity of fat percentage present in your body. However, BMI does give you an approximate indication of whether you are a normal-weighing or overweight person.

The calculation of BMI is done by determining the ratio of your body weight in kilograms to that of your body height when measure in meters squared. So for instance, if you are one of those people, who measures your weight in pounds, then just multiply your weight in pounds by the numeral value of 704.5 and then divide the resulting numerical quantity with your body height, as measured in inches.

Again whatever numerical value you arrive at, again divide this value for a second time by your body height in inches. You could also use any popular search engine online to get access to a free or paid BMI calculator online.

If the value of you BMI, happens to fall within the range of say 18. 5 to 24.9, then you can be safely considered to have a normal weight. If you BMI ranges between the values of 25 and 29.9, then you are said to be overweight. Finally, if the value of your BMI exceeds a value of 30, then you are said to be obese.

With this calculation, you will be in a position to determine if you are overweight and if so, and then you can simply reverse the process of gaining weight, by starting your workouts right now. Do not delay any longer. This is the only way to protect you from the physical and psychological risks of obesity. Instead by working out and gaining muscles, you will ensure calorie consumption even during your idle time. You will look slimmer and more well-defined along all the muscle groups along your body, making you a physical and psychological dream magnet that is the pleasure of every girl and the role-model of every guy.

Weight Loss Made Easy

I am a fitness instructor and personal trainer and have been in the industry both professionally and as a participant all my adult life.

Here are some simple ways to start fat burning, get a Lean body and have a fitter way of life.

Always, Always, Always start the day with Breakfast!
This can be…
Eggs, Bacon, Small Wholegrain Cereal, Small amount of Toast, Decaff Tea or Coffee, Water, fruit, natural yoghurt.

The next meal should be a small snack around 3 hours later!
Seeds, nuts, fruit, vegetable sticks, water, dried fruit, natural yoghurt

Lunch will be approx 3 hours after that and should either be fish, lean meat, lean vegetarian soya based product, fresh salad or vegetables and small amount of potato or rice or pasta. (Select brown rice, sweet potato and brown pasta). The meat and veg/salad should be plentiful and the starchy rice, pasta and pots should be minimal)

Have a small snack again 3 hours later, using a choice of fruit, veg sticks, seed, nuts, dried fruit, natural yoghurt, boiled egg etc…

Evening meal will be fresh meat or fish, even a vegetarian option if that’s what you want, with lots of Fresh vegetables (No Potatos, rice or pasta) or salad.

A desert can be an optional extra and this will be fruit based or natural yoghurt based or combination of fruit, natural yoghurt and nuts. The body metabolises food slower in the evening.

This basic meal plan has served me well and has helped my clients lose weight quickly over the first 6-8 weeks or so and can be used as a staple for adding different foods as the weeks progress. Be very strict for the first 4-6 weeks then have a cheat meal once a week.

Make sure that you drink plenty of water 1-2 litres if you are not exercising fir the first week then 2-3 litres for the following week.

This will help with huger pangs and cravings as well.

If you are exercising, you should drink 2-3 litres a day throughout the entire programme. Remember though, diet is something that MUST be done every single day of our lives and isn’t something you stop when your weight goal is reached. This leads to failure, and you’ll return to your previous weight quicker then you lost it, so please, please, please, KEEP EATING RIGHT!

Foods That Risk Obesity

Obesity is often caused by overeating, but did you know that it is also the result of not eating the right kinds of foods. There are many foods that will cause you to gain weight even if you don’t overeat. Here are some foods that you should eliminate from your diet to help you get control of your weight and lose weight if necessary.

Junks Foods

The reason you crave junk foods is simply because your body is so depleted of nutrients that it needs energy fast, and junk foods such as sugar, chocolate, chips and other unhealthy snacks or desserts will give your body that immediate rush of energy and satisfaction that it needs.

But this energy wears off very quickly and as soon as it does, you are left craving for more. Thus it ends in a vicious cycle and ultimately causes you to gain weight.

Fast Foods

Fast foods might as well be put into the same category as junk foods, as they are high in unhealthy fats, lots of empty calories and are heavily processed.

And like most junk foods they will give you an immediate boost of energy, only to have you feeling sluggish and miserable after.

Processed Foods

Processed foods are foods that you can buy in neat packages, boxes, packets, cans and bottles. But all of these foods contain preservatives and other food additives that are foreign to the body. Anything that is foreign to the body will become toxic in your body. Your body then has to neutralize those toxins so that they can be eliminated. If your body is unable to neutralize and eliminate them, then they get wrapped up in fat cells to be stored away from the organs.

The only foods that will help you to neutralize these toxins are living foods such as fruits, vegetables, herbs and nuts and seeds. You should eat these foods raw whenever possible for the most benefit.

Animal Proteins

Animal proteins such as meat, dairy and eggs will also cause you to gain excess weight. Even though these foods contain lots of nutrients, they also contain lots of unhealthy saturated fats and excess proteins which your body is unable to absorb or get rid of in a timely manner. Thus these foods become toxic in the body as well, for they cannot be absorbed and neither can they leave the body without being neutralized first.

By eliminating or at least reducing the above foods you can reduce your risks of obesity or even being overweight. But not only that, it can also help you to lose weight.
