The Healthy Diet Plan That Works

I have used it and so can say with conviction that I have become slimmer, healthier and have a lot of energy. The diet plan works on the principle of meal replacement. Years of research have gone into this plan. It is simple to follow and addresses your bodys special needs.

The importance of protein

From our schooldays, we learnt that proteins are the building blocks of life. They are needed for growth and repair. Therefore, the diet has to be protein rich.

Lose weight now

If you are not sure of your protein and calorie requirements, take the average and work your way from there. For women that translates into a 1200 calorie daily diet which supplies around 100 gram of protein. For men it means 1500 calories and 150 gram of protein. The physically active or athletic person will need more protein and more calories.

In order to lose weight, simply replace two meals a day with a portion-controlled and healthy protein shake mix. The main meal of the day should comprise healthy foods with lots of color in it.

Snacks should be low calorie but nutritious. And have lots of vegetables and fruits. Dont forget the importance of exercise.

Maintaining weight loss or losing weight slowly

For either of the above, simply replace one meal with a shake. Have healthy low calorie foods and avoid junk foods. Make sure that your diet is protein rich.

Gaining weight

Not everybody wants to lose weight. Some people are too thin and want to build their body. For them, it is important to have sufficient calories and include protein shakes to every meal as extras. Various supplements and high protein can be had as snacks. Make sure that you do not exceed more than 50 grams of protein in any one meal.

Planning your meals

When planning your shakes, mix the protein powders with low fat or skim milk or soy milk. Add fruit for additional nutrition.

Have high protein snacks, whether bars, soups or nuts. These will keep hunger pangs away and add nutrition to your daily diet.

Your meals should be based on a main protein like white meat, lean red meat, or soy substitute for vegetarians. Add lots of vegetables and fruits for vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. Whole grains or breads and pastas made from whole grains will provided added protein and nutrition as well as fiber.

Do you need supplements?

If your calories are restricted, you ought to use supplements, which provide more bang for your buck in the form of added nutrition. These can help you with your metabolism, give your energy and eliminate unnecessary fat from your diet.

They will boost your immunity and help you manage stress. They will also take care of heart and bone health, keeping your fitness and energy levels high.

A Face Mask Recipe That Cures Common Skin Problems

Most of us basically take a good care of our face than anywhere else in our body, especially to treat and correct unsightly skin problems. Most probably that’s what you’ve been doing too. However, it is disappointing that most of these commercial products that you bought are quite expensive and not delivering results expected just like in the (photoshopped) ads. The good news is, there is an alternative for you and its right there in your kitchen.

Sometimes the three basic step in skin care regime; cleanse, tone, and moisturize is not enough for you. Another step you need to add to your skin care routine is to have a facial mask treatment on a weekly basis. Unlike other three steps, masks are used as a special (and pampering) treatment to treat your skin on the much deeper level to correct any defects, cleanse, and rejuvenate the skin. There’s no need to be skeptical though as the steps outline here is easy to make, delivers quick result, and definitely more affordable than those preservatives – laden ones.

Acne is one of the common skin problems that affects nearly all of us (maybe few of us got lucky) from the teen phase right into adulthood. Apart from stress and hormones, acne affects when our skin isn’t clean thoroughly, causing bacteria to thrive in the dirt clogging in the pores, forming whiteheads and/or blackheads which turn into breakouts that’s quite painful and eyesore to watch. You can use this recipe to treat acne problems on your skin. Mix and mash one ripe banana, slices of tomatoes, and honey into a workable paste. Apply directly on the face and rinse it after the mask dried thoroughly. Banana is rich in potassium and can act as a pore refiner in drawing and tightening the pores. Tomato is rich in antioxidants and vitamin A, which prevents excess production of sebum in your skin while honey is use for its hydrating and antibacterial properties.

Another common and unsightly skin problem is sunburn, pigmentation and (eventually) uneven skin tone. No need to use lots of different shades of foundation to cover it up though. From natural ingredients you can blend two tablespoons of honey and a half cup of mashed ripe papaya (the enzyme papain contained will do the trick) into a paste. Then, leave the mixture on your skin for up to 20 minutes to lighten and even out your skin tone.

Dry and flaky skin affects a lot of us, especially during the winter months where the air is a lot drier. You can mash half ripe of avocado, four to five drops of olive oil, and one teaspoon of honey. Avocado is high in lecithin, which is good to treat dry skin.

To remove dead skin cells that make your face looks dull, the key is to exfoliate to make it radiant again. Combine 4 large chunks of pineapple with three tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil (this ingredient has vitamin E, which restores the skin’s youthful glow) in a blender until it comes out as a smooth paste. Or you can mix half cup of plain yogurt, half tablespoon of turmeric and a half cup of finely ground oatmeal until it forms a paste and apply it.

As we get older, finding the right product to fight the aging signs of your skin can be confusing. So why don’t you try out this simple recipe? Retinol (Vitamin A) and Coenzyme Q 10 (Q 10 or co Q 10) is the ingredients found mainly in commercial anti – aging products. The best thing is you can achieve the same benefit by using these recipes with natural ingredients.  Cook the two or three carrots until tender then mash it well. Add it with four and a half tablespoons of honey. Apply it for 10 minutes and rinse it with cold water. Carrot is an n excellent source of vitamin A, which stimulates the production of elastin and collagen; elements that are less produced by our skin as we got older. Q 10 also produced in our skin, aiding the cell creates energy needed to function properly as well as neutralizing free radicals. This enzyme found naturally in meat and fish and also peanuts (you wouldn’t want a fish for a mask though). Simply mix well two tablespoons of peanut oil and an egg yolk. Add adequately lemon juice and honey. Apply it for 30 minutes and rinse it off.

There’s plenty of other facial masks recipe that you can try out to suit and treat your skin’s condition. No more excuses to buy commercial ones at the store.

Fish Oil Reduces the Risk of Heart Attack

Heart attack, also known as myocardial infarction and acute myocardial infarction, is one of most feared conditions today. It is a condition where the blood supply to the part of the heart is interrupted because of the blockage of a coronary. This is then followed by the rupture of a vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque. If left untreated, it can cause damage or death of heart muscle tissue.

Heart attack is known to have high mortality rate. In fact, millions of people die every year because of this condition. Because it is so dangerous, it best to avoid it at all cost.  One way of preventing yourself from getting a heart attack is by consuming a sufficient amount of fish oil.

Fish oil is one of the most popular regimens for fighting different types of diseases such as heart attack. Fishes like lake trout, sea bass, sardines, oysters, tuna, turbot, salmon, anchovies, mackerel and pilchards are among the most common sources of this type of oil.

In various studies, it was proven that people who consume substantial amounts of fish oil are less likely to develop cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks.

This is due to the abundance of omega 3 fatty acids in this type of oil. And as you know, omega 3 fatty acids, especially docosahexaenoic acid or DHA, are among the most beneficial nutrients for the heart.

This type of oil can help the blood to flow freely into and outside the heart. It also helps in making sure that the platelets found in the blood do not clump up or stick together, thus, lessening or even eliminating the damage to the artery. Aside from this, several studies have also shown that fish oil is ideal for decreasing the level of bad cholesterol in a person’s body.

Now, there is another way to help prevent heart attacks, and that is by means of simple guided meditation.

Practicing this method and consuming enough amounts of fish oil can help increase your chance of longevity and preventing heart attacks and other heart diseases. To know more about simple meditation technique, you can visit www.meditate.com.au or www.meditate.com.au/members.

Improve Eyesight Without Surgery – Save Your Eyes and Your Money

Some people with vision problems think that the only solution to their problem is eye surgery. This is the reason why even though surgery is a very expensive procedure, it is still very popular.

What people are not aware of is that to improve eyesight without surgery is possible and that there are natural proven methods for improving eyesight. One of the most popular methods to improve eyesight without surgery is called the Bates method which was developed by Dr. William Horatio Bates, an opthalmologist who practiced during the early parts of the 20th Century. According to the Bates Method, eyesight can be improved through the use of a series of simple eye exercises that almost anyone can do.

Surgery may be effective in relieving some of the most common eye problems but the high price tag that comes with it is keeping it from being a practical solution for many individuals.

The safety of eye surgery is also questionable.

It is a very risky procedure that can cause several possible eye complications including complete blindness. If you want to save your eyes and save money at the same time and avoid the risks that come with eye surgery, then one of the things that you can do is to try the safer and cheaper alternative which is the Bates Method.

The Bates Method is based on the principle that eye problems are as much caused by psychological problems as they are caused by physiological factors. One of the most common causes of eye problems, according to Dr. Bates is stress and this is why his method involves relaxation exercises that relieve stress and pressure from the mind and body.

The Bates Methods can be considered as holistic approaches to improve eyesight without surgery.

Many people have already benefited from this method so maybe it is time that you took advantage of it as well.

Upper Back Pain | Treatment And Care For Upper Back Pain

Upper back pain is less common but can be just as painful as lower back or neck pain. The upper back is designed to support the upper body and neck rather than to twist and turn. You can get pain in your upper back from injury or strain or even from lack of use. Once you have isolated the cause of your upper back pain it will be more easily treated. The root causes of pain in the upper back are muscular irritation and joint malfunction.

What Is Joint Malfunction?

Joint malfunction is most likely caused by strain or injury to the joints between the ribs and the upper back. A chiropractor, an osteopathic doctor or a physical therapist can manipulate the upper back in order to loosen and also strengthen those muscles to relieve the strain and prevent future injury. As part of treatment you may also take anti-inflammatory drugs to cut down on the upper back pain. A steroid shot will probably not be used unless it is injected right at the point where the pain initiates (the trigger point.)

What Is Muscular Irritation?

If you suffer from muscular irritation it is most likely not caused by strain or injury but rather from lack of activity or poor muscle strength in the shoulder girdle which connects the scapula to the thoracic cavity. Upper back pain in this case can be alleviated by chiropractic care, acupuncture, deep muscle massage, physical therapy, and strengthening and stretching exercises.

Are There Other Causes?

A herniated or ruptured disk is one of the less commonly found causes of upper back pain. Of people who come in for a herniated disk treatment only 1 percent have problems in the upper back. Another uncommon cause for pain in the upper back is degenerative disk disease. Those who work long hours at the computer or at a desk are more likely candidates for upper back pain than the general population. Good posture would help to alleviate the problem as well as strengthening exercises.

Suggested Treatment Options:

1) Chiropractic care: Once scorned by much of the medical community, it is now a well-respected profession and may be covered by your insurance.

2) Physical therapy: As you strengthen your back, shoulders, and abdomen, you will suffer from less upper back pain.

3) Acupuncture: This ancient Chinese healing art is also becoming more popular in treatment of chronic pain.

4) Deep muscle massage: A massage therapist trained in relieving upper back pain can be very useful.

5) The most serious cases of pain in the upper back may require medication for immediate relief.

Hypoglycemia, Food Allergies and Depression

There are two things that I have researched, observed and experienced time and time again regarding nutrition and depression. One is low blood sugar and the other is allergies. If your energy and mood is constantly dropping, I suggest that you drop the sugar, wheat, milk, corn, alcohol and maybe even eggs. This might not be totally accurate to what ails you, but it will get rid of most of the ailments.

This is as simple (though not easy) as eliminating sugar, bread and milk for a couple of days. This means no toast, sandwiches, pizzas, doughnuts, pastries or bagels. Now, this will cause a huge protest with some people who do not see the logic in it or insist that they and their grandmothers ate this way, etc. etc. In which case they have to ask themselves just how serious they are about feeling better.

When you eliminate or minimize sugar in your diet, you are stabilizing your blood sugar.

Unlike most natural fruit, refined sugar, has no water to dilute it or fiber to slow down its absorption. Refined sugar enters the blood stream too rapidly and spikes the body’s blood sugar levels. This rapid rise of sugar will signal the pancreas to release insulin which lowers the blood sugar levels BELOW normal. The person suddenly feels tired and quite often reaches for another hit of sugar. And the cycle continues. The mind and body are more vulnerable to illness, like depression, while the body is in a state of low blood sugar.

The other nutrition factor is food allergies. As mentioned, the biggest offenders are: sugar, wheat, corn and alcohol (yeast). It can be a long process of finding out which foods are causing you grief and which are not. Especially since most of the allergic foods are the very ones which you crave.

For starters, I recommend that you buy as many fresh foods as possible and prepare what you can without reverting to instant or canned concoctions. Most people can handle stir fried or steamed vegetables with a meat dish. Yes, it takes effort, but the rewards are more than worth it.

If you can afford vitamins, I recommend vitamin C and vitamin B3 or niacin. The minimum requirement of vitamin C is around 50 mg. However, therapeutic dosages range up to several thousands milligrams. Vitamin C can counter certain allergens and increase the overall immune system of the body.

Most B vitamins are very unstable and lost through cooking and processing. As these vitamins are brain fuel, you have to replace them daily. If you cannot get supplementation, find B vitamins in liver, egg yolks, wheat germ, green vegetables and whole grains. A very cheap source is black strap molasses. Note that North American settlers ate molasses instead of sugar.

As for exercise, some people prefer lifting weights, while others like aerobic exercise. I find that anything that involves deep breathing will clear my head and dispel my blues in record time. Even after a bad day at the office, a bit of yard work or a bike ride can get gets me thinking straighter and calmer. Nothing quite beats several sets of deep squats alternating with push ups. Trust me, it can force the blues or anything else out of your mind in no time.

These methods almost always take longer than the drug approach. But the results are longer lasting.
